2012 Kansas City Heart Walk

Through the Heart Walk, we create opportunities for people to improve their health by walking and simultaneously raise funds to help fight heart disease and stroke. Walkers can organize teams at the companies where they work or with family and friends or ask others to support their walk effort by sponsoring them with a donation to the American Heart Association. Community Health Fair

Enjoy health screenings by LSMC, a visit by Life Flight and Lee’s Summit Fire Department, local physicians with information about your health, and more. Join us to get information about how to keep you and your family healthy, happy and well! All are welcome and all activities are free!

Multiple health screenings begin at 10 a.m. | Free lunch will be served to the first 700 participants beginning at 11 a.m. | BINGO hosted by cheerleaders all morning | Free kid games. Clowns and magicians will entertain 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Car show and quilt show from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. with prizes for all participants.| Live music provided by the Lee’s Summit Symphony from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. | Tour the Life Flight Eagle helicopter 11:00 a.m. (time subject to change) | Many other vendors will offer health information and swag!

Night Flight 5K Run

Put away your sunglasses and run under the moon and stars in the 31st Annual Night Flight 5K Run, co-sponsored by the Lee's Summit Medical Center and Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation Department. The silver moon and luminaries will guide you on your journey along our 3.1 mile course. Entry fees include a T-shirt and Glow bracelet for runners who register by June 7.

Diabetes Education Class: Session III

Class (6/12, 6/19 and 6/26) includes: A small group setting where participants learn blood glucose monitoring and diabetes prevention; Meal planning, food preparation and weight loss education; Information about starting insulin therapy, and treatment of high and low blood sugars; Individual counseling and in-depth information when you need it; With your permission, share information with your doctor; Referral to a family physician or endocrinologist, if needed; Interaction with people facing similar challenges.
