The Lees Summit Medical Center Surgical Weight Loss Program
Our multi-disciplinary team will be with you every step of your journey to permanent weight loss. Our team consists of:
- Surgeon
- Anesthesiologist
- Registered Dietitian
- Psychologist
- Office Coordinator
- Registered Nurses who are program navigators, champions and support group leaders
- Referring Physician
Support Group
A support group meets at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month in the Bayberry Room at Lee’s Summit Medical Center. The Support Group is available for anyone who has had the Lap Band procedure and will help you as you continue your weight loss journey after your surgery. The Support Group is free and no reservation is required. Information about the Support Group is available by calling (816) 282-LIVE.

What Can I Expect?
Just a few small steps can lead you to your goal of being healthier, happier and able to enjoy the simple things in life. You can be referred to the program by your physician or you can refer yourself. You will meet with the bariatric surgeon who will talk to you about your medical and weight loss history. You will meet with the dietitian for a dietary evaluation and will have a pre-surgical psychological evaluation by the psychologist. You will also talk with the Financial Counselor about the opportunities for pre-authorization from your insurance company and other financial arrangements. You will attend our Program Support Group both before and after your surgery. This group will provide the education and training you need to be successful as well as the support of other participants to keep you motivated about your journey.
